What you do not value will not add value to you. It will not enhance you either. What you pay attention to will draw people’s attention to you and make you an attraction to scores of people. When you treat your potential with disdain and contempt it, it will confer shame and reproach on you. When you celebrate what you carry, you would become a celebrity. In this context ‘value’ means to regard something (that is, your talent) highly as important or useful.
Richard W. De Haan told a story about a group of animals that decided to improve their general welfare by starting a school. The curriculum included swimming, running, climbing and flying. The duck, an excellent swimmer, was deficient in other areas, so he majored in climbing and flying, much to the detriment of his swimming. The rabbit, a superior runner, was forced to spend so much of his famed speed. The squirrel dropped to a “C” because of his instructors spent hours trying to teach him how to fly. And the eagle could no longer soar to the tree tops because he had to learn how to swim.
The lesson to draw from this story is that a great number of people act out what they are not and who they are not on the stage of life. In other words, they pretend to be who they are really not. The book of Romans 12:6 states: Having the gift differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them.
This verse of scripture teaches that every man on earth is carrying certain gift which carries commensurate level of grace for fulfillment. But some of us serve In so many areas where we do not perform our task well. As a result, the whole world suffers.
In the church, for instance, if God gave you the gift teaching, enjoying being the teacher of His word. Study diligently and do not pretend to be a prophet if you are not. Put an end to false prophecy and deception of people with itching ears thereby bringing the name of God to disrepute. I wish to remind you the sword of the Lord’s anger is dangling over your head if you indulge in this disgraceful act. Rev 19:20
You had better repent now! Don’t allow God’s prophecy concerning false prophets and prophecies to be fulfilled in your life because it attracts His wrath and punishment. If you carry the gift of mercy, serve with joy and don’t expect others to do what you are supposed to do. You should always be contented with the gift God has endowed you with. You ability to use what you carry to meet the needs of others makes you a success in life. So, you must be contented with whatever you carry as your success is dependent on it. Prov. 18:16
Don’t be discouraged by past experiences of failure at every attempt at success. You can still make it if you forget about your ugly past and look forward to a glorious future. What you carry on your inside carries power to help you fulfil your destiny. It carries grace to save you from life’s disgrace. You can only become truly great by discovering, developing and deploying what you carry to the glory of God and the benefit of mankind.
